Paddy has been a dog enthusiast all of his life. He grew up in Ireland and served in the Irish Guards from 1959 to 1965, is a veteran, emigrated to Canada in 1966 where he joined the Waterloo City Police Department. During his police days, Paddy had two Canadian champion Soft-Coated Wheaten Terriers. Other dog lovers asked where they could find similar dogs and thus, started his career in
dog-breeding.
Paddy retired from the Police service in 1994 and made the decision to devote himself, exclusively, to breeding and Cranfield Kennels was born. Located in Grandbend, Ontario, he added Labradoodles to his brood and then just five years ago, expanded once again with Golden Doodles. Paddy proudly named his business after the Irish fishing village where his grandfather was born, a nod to his Irish heritage and family roots.
Paddy, with his son Rory, continues to love his job and has passed on his passion for dogs to his step-son, Scott.
Scott and Danielle are very excited to have been able to launch the second location of Cranfield Kennels in the Campbell River (Vancouver Island). Along with their young daughter, Scott and Danielle, developed a love for doodles through Paddy. They joined him to breed doodles many years ago and have been keen to learn everything they can about the breeds and producing healthy, happy, family dogs.
